2/7/11 - 4 x 6 x 1/2” tube dropped off to Kevin Binkert/SMP for the bridge/top link. He says the waterjet cutting will be done by end of week. All top link parts! Jomo and John P. are working all week: Jomo on the tricky hole drilling @ rear corner - John on base plate flattening, enlarging cylinder hole and angle stops for bumpers.

2/11/11 - History is made in Egypt!

I pick up 800 lbs of steel from SPM in a City Car Share Prius. I figured it would be OK since Mary and I rode from Missoula, MT to Kalispell, MT in a Pruis “Green” taxi with 7 adults and baggage for 6 (it’s a long story).

2/12/11 - I thought this would be a day with minimal help, just Jomo and John P., but Tom and Andrew came by for a few hours. Andrew drilled, the rest of us did a lot of grinding weld prep for John P. He got all the root passes done on the bridge beam. One of the most exciting days for me. A year of working on the digital files now coming together. For some reason the top link yoke is 3” too long. I have to cut/notch the bridge gussetts with a sawzall. Slow going.

2/13/11 - Mary and I take Phaedra to Rodeo Beach at the Headlands - nice reprieve … Then puppy class.

2/14/11 - JP and I fit primary lift/bottom yoke pieces and he finishes all root pass welds. Jomo cuts up drops from SMP w/torch.
